Park Plaza Hotel Reviews Summary

Very Good
unique stay in historical hotel

Pros: The history of the aged property was unique and the design honored the era in which the hotel first opened. Also, the bed was comfy!
Cons: A little closer attention should be given to the cleanliness of the bathroom. The shower had hairs - long and short - on the walls and the tub that I had to remove before entering. Not exactly what I want to be doing on a leisure trip.

Quick and satisfying

Pros: Location, the unique property, and LOVED the bedding and pillows. Staff very friendly, wished we had complimentary breakfast like before.
Cons: Tv did not work, there was construction outside our room so obstructed view.

Exceptional
Quaint historic location

Pros: It's such a beautiful location in a quaint little downtown area. Very comfortable room and top-notch service. The bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept in. The front desk receptionists and bellhop were all super friendly. In all, it was a wonderful stay.
Cons: The only thing I can think of was the squeaky floors, but it is a historic building built in 1920s, so some wear is to be expected.

quaint hotel, convenient to Park...

Pros: beds were comfortable and location was very convenient
Cons: cleanliness of hotel room and bathroom was less than be desired. the balcony was full of leaves and debris so you could not really sit out there .first room we were put in was tiny and the bathroom was terrible, the room they switched us to was much bigger just not real clean and that balcony was also really not useable.

Poor
not coming back

Pros: location
Cons: Very loud!! Could not sleep at all. Also, very thin walls, and the floors creak every time you walk on them. No coffee maker in the room. You have to go downstairs to get a cup of coffee. After spending $560 for 2 nights. you’d think I would at least have a coffee maker in the room!! And the maid service didn’t replace the towels!! The owners need to renovate and pay attention to the property!!

Love to come back here...

Pros: Great value for old school comfort, location and service. Love the feeing of the rooms, furniture and fabrics. We really enjoyed the sitting area of our room, the porch cleverly secluded with ferns, the four poster king bed and the coffee service in the lobby. There is entertainment on the sidewalk below all day and in the evening, but it wasn’t noisy. Many restaurants and bars are walking distance.

Pros: Beautiful! Super location! Staff was pleasant and helpful. Loved, loved the balcony! Would definitely stay here again- look forward to it. Grateful this beauty has been saved and is available. Our kind of stay.

Pros: Location and quaint.
Cons: The printer was low on ink producing poor boarding pass quality and the manager had little interest in replacing the cartridge. We initially had trouble locating the hotel and the night manager wasn't familiar enough with the area to be of any help.

Pros: VERY NICE AMBIENCE.GOOD LOCATION.COURTEOUS STAFF. QUIET AND PEACEFUL
Cons: NEEDS A NEW TV IN THE ROOM. SOMETHING A BIT BIGGER.AND THE REMOTE WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO WORK WITH. THERE WAS NO HBO.FOR $250 I EXPECT IT. MATTRESS WAS NOT GOOD. VERY OLD AND CREAKY. ALSO NEEDS A MUCH BIGGER SIGN.WE PASSED IT TWICE BEFORE WE ACTUALLY SAW THE ENTRANCE.

Don't book room #234 or...

Pros: Absolutely nothing.
Cons: Overnight stay. NO DISCLOSURE: concerning train every 20 minutes until midnight with 2 or 3 freight trains between 12 am and 5 am. Every time train passed brakes screeched and room shook slightly. In addition, the AC struggled to keep the room cool and there was black mold in shower, on skylight wall edge and under metal towel rack in a deteriorating bathroom. Staff very unhelpful concerning these issues. Received no compensation for very little sleep.

Old school hotel in a...

Pros: I got a an upgrade to balcony room, overlooking Winter Park town square, with one queen bed from the standard room room with two. The hotel was built 1992 and has some old time charm. It means the facilities are not fully modern but they are clean and they work. The hotel is family run and you sense that from the first minute. It is situated right in the middle of Winter Park so once you're there you don't need your vehicle to explore the town.
Cons: There is coffee available for free but not restaurant. There are several good places for breakfast short walk away. It's close to the railroad station with SunTrail commuter trains passing about once an hour but not during the night. Parking is valet parking at $15/night but that's cheaper than the car parks around.

Would not likely return....

Pros: Located right in the center of Winter Park town. Every place and the festival walkable.
Cons: I was contacted by the Hotel on the Tuesday before arrival requesting a change in the room. I was lead to believe a twin bed was needed for another guest and we were being given a larger, better room. We received a Queen Bed overlooking the concrete roof and parking lot. Mattress was too firm. Dirty wet wash rag in tub, no bar soap and stained pillowcases required changing. We were charged $25 instead of $20 for parking per the hotel site: "A $15 per day Valet Service Charge will be applied to your bill when service is provided ($20/day on Special Event dates)."

Good
Beautiful euro-style hotel - dreadful...

Pros: The location was brilliant - downtown Winter Park - the valet took care of the car and we happily walked everywhere. I understand some people were unhappy with the hotel but here's what. If you checked into this hotel in Paris or Prague you would be oh so happy. It isn't a Hilton or a Mariott. If that is what you want or expect then do NOT book this hotel. This is a 100+ old hotel, wood everything, creaky floorboards, bahamas shutters some of which don't shut properly - a cramped bathroom (one person at a time!). But here's what - bahamas shutters! wood everything!!! so much character it's crazy. A fabulous balcony packed with wicker and baskets with plants cascading - where you can chat to your neighbors. And every luxury I appreciate at the price: high speed internet access, a tv with a remote, a fan over the bed with a remote, a super quiet mini split with a remote so as much cool or as warm as you like with a ton of customization, beautiful white cotton linens, a tray of Really Good wines ... 2 unusual ones. I loved everything about the hotel. The valet was super helpful and welcoming.
Cons: The manager couldn't have been grumpier. I didn't feel welcomed. On the contrary - he was rude and cursory. I We asked for the wi-fi password and he threw down a sheet of paper. That password didn't work neither did the one in the hotel book in our room so we went down for help. He got annoyed and scribbled the (apparently new) password on a piece of paper. We couldn't get it to work no matter how we typed it. So we went back and he started shouting at us basically calling us stupid for getting it wrong. We shouted back that his writing was open to interpretation that it wasn't clear whether some of his letters were upper or lower case. He got so angry he threatened to throw us out of the hotel. We asked about his position and he shouted that he was the manager and the CEO and the chair of the Board. I have only had this experience once before - at a hotel in the UK. In the UK customer service isn't a thing so his behaviour made me wonder about his nationality. We were only there a night and ghosted the front desk for the rest of our stay.

Very Good
unique stay in historical hotel

Pros: The history of the aged property was unique and the design honored the era in which the hotel first opened. Also, the bed was comfy!
Cons: A little closer attention should be given to the cleanliness of the bathroom. The shower had hairs - long and short - on the walls and the tub that I had to remove before entering. Not exactly what I want to be doing on a leisure trip.

Disappointing
quaint hotel, convenient to Park...

Pros: Location and quaint.
Cons: The printer was low on ink producing poor boarding pass quality and the manager had little interest in replacing the cartridge. We initially had trouble locating the hotel and the night manager wasn't familiar enough with the area to be of any help.

Very Poor
